The First Preparatory Meeting for ISPRS 2008 Beijing was held on April 4, 2006 in Beijing. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Wang Qian, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for ISPRS 2008 Beijing (LOC) and Director for Foreign Affairs Office of State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (SBSM). Most members of the LOC and the Scientific Program Committee for the Congress attended the meeting.

Mr. Song Chaozhi, Executive Vice Chairman of National Steering Committee for ISPRS 2008 Beijing, Deputy Director General of SBSM, delivered a mobilization address, calling for active involvement of all relevant sectors in the preparatory work and emphasizing the importance of coordination and teamwork for the successful organization of the Congress.

Prof. Chen Jun, the XXI ISPRS Congress Director and Chairman of the Scientific Program Committee for ISPRS 2008 Beijing, and Mr. Wang Qian presented the future arrangements of scientific and organizational activities respectively.

The General Work Plan for the XXI ISPRS Congress Preparations was adopted at the meeting.
