The First Meeting of National Steering Committee for ISPRS 2008 Beijing was held in Beijing on May 29, 2007. The two Chairmen of the National Steering Committee, Prof. XU Guanhua, former Minister of Science and Technology and Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Mr. LU Xinshe, Vice Minister of Land and Resources and Director General of State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Prof. CHEN Jun, Congress Director of ISPRS 2008 Beijing, and Mr. WANG Qian, Chairman of LOC, reported on the progress of the preparations. The members of the Committee, mostly members of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, held extensive and in-depth discussions and made instructive comments and suggestions on issues related to ISPRS 2008 Beijing.
